Tuesday marked the first day of my third trimester. Goodbye, second trimester! Just typing that out seems surreal. I knew the summer would go fast, but what the heck.
I was so anxious to get out of the first trimester – not only to feel better but also to know our little guy was growing healthier and stronger. Many friends told me the change would happen almost overnight and I couldn’t comprehend feeling bad one day and miraculously feeling better the next. But that is exactly how it happened. I hit 14 weeks and everything changed. My energy came back, no more nausea, no more food aversions. Not that I had much to begin with, but I started feeling more like myself again. The second trimester truly is the most enjoyable.
However, I am pregnant. I obviously still experience symptoms. Aches and pains have been my biggest burden as of late. My lower back crippled me to the couch a couple nights. Sleeplessness, round ligament pains and nightly leg cramps have been on repeat. As for my mood, the only time I feel really emotional is when I’m physically or mentally fatigued. Which mostly happens at night or when I’m on my feet too long. Staying active has been my savior – read more about that here – but I’m challenged daily to learn my new limits.
The final stretch… literally
The past 14 weeks have been pretty effortless so to think things may change again with a new trimester makes me a bit apprehensive. I’m excited to have reached this milestone, don’t get me wrong, but with the countdown under three months, I’ve realized how long my to-do and to-get lists really are. I’m also realizing my body has a lot of changing left to do. Baby boy is officially showing off and I feel like my belly size changes daily. It’s all still a bit scary, but I keep telling myself everything will be fine. Because it will be.
We’re actively working on the nursery, carefully choosing each item & we’re loving how things are coming together. Yes, T is helping a ton! Don’t worry, I’ll share more when it’s time. As for clothes, I’ve been lucky enough to squeeze into non-maternity options for the most part (except for pants) and this dress I’m wearing is a sale find from Target last year – non-maternity! I’ve linked similar options below.
