It’s the time of year when T and I spend a lot of time at home, cuddled up in a blanket, watching our favorite TV shows and newly released movies. Why? Because the weather is cold, the sunsets are early and our DVR finally has a good line-up. Walking Dead and Modern Family, anyone? And while we love munching on buttery popcorn & chocolate while Netflix-binging, sometimes it’s good to have a healthy movie night snack as an alternative. Especially after the Thanksgiving holiday when our full stomachs need a break.
So, along with our cozy blankets and pillows, we plate up some sliced apples drizzled with caramel. Since slicing and drizzling takes less time than popping a bag of microwave popcorn, I’d say it’s a win-win. But, if we need some salty to add to the sweet, we also throw together a simple mixture. I toss gluten-free Chex, Dot’s seasoned pretzels and flavored Bugles (optional) in a bowl and voila – a salty side. The seasoned pretzels add all the flavor you need and with the Chex & Bugles (Tom’s brand) being gluten-free, this snack is also guilt-free. Oh… and it too takes less time than popping a bag of popcorn!
