I’ve had a retail crush on Mango since the first time I stepped inside one of their stores in NYC. I was in college, broke and in awe of trendy clothing displays. Then, a few years down the road, they released an affordable collection with JCPenney. I bought a couple items and have been on the hook ever since. As of late, their shoe selection owns me. Specifically, their summer sandals. Once the warm months began to approach, I quickly realized how terrible my collection had become. Worn out, dated and gross. Time to revamp.
Summer sandals can be tricky. You can spend anywhere from $10 to over $200 on any pair, whether they are trendy or basic. I feel like you need a wider variety of them to go with all the different summer ensembles. Leather ones for jeans, flip flops with shorts, slides at the pool, embellished with a dress. And the selection within these categories is seriously overwhelming. At least for me. So when I find a brand or store I trust and love, I stick with it. Recently, that’s Mango. Here are some of my favorites I’ve found, broken down in key categories if you’re still looking for summer.
The best of Mango summer sandals
the basics
Unlike my sneakers, boots and heels, my sandals get treated poorly. Not sure why, but at the end of each season, it seems most of them are ready to be replaced. Which is the number one reason I don’t drop a ton of money on each pair. Even on the basics (which is typically where I splurge if I’m going to). At Mango, you can score some amazing, modern basics at great prices. A lot of these are currently marked down for their summer sale and I seriously cannot decide between them. How could you go wrong?
the trendy
Leave it to Mango to design trendy pieces that don’t feel overly… trendy. Trying to buy trends at budget prices can be hard as pieces can appear cheap really easily. Mango designs footwear in a way that feels effortless, simple and yes, trendy! I don’t get it, but this magic is what keeps me coming back. I personally went all in on the dad sandal for summer. I’m obsessed with this pair (I got them in black, but they’ve since sold out – the beige is amazing, too). I also love the padded flip flop trend and thick soles. Honestly, give me all of these.
the colorful
Bright footwear is making a huge comeback this season. I didn’t think it was for me, but then I grabbed Mango’s strappy sandal in neon green and officially converted into a fangirl. I wear them so often! For someone who has a mostly neutral wardrobe, it’s fun to add a pop of color. I’m now crushing on the lavender ruched pair. So fun. And I think these colors will stick around for a few seasons.
I love shopping at Mango because…
If you haven’t already gathered, Mango is definitely one of my most-frequented retailer, not just for shoes. Even when I don’t love their entire collection (this past spring was rough) I still visit their site for inspiration. So, why Mango? Besides still feeling nostalgia over my first visit to NYC, I really do think they are the perfect mix of quality, trendy and classic. A trifecta! Plus, the price point is fair. Some items are on the higher end for the average shopper, but it’s fair. I recommend hitting up their sales – they’re perfectly timed and usually 50% off. Like, right now!
Alternative retailers for great summer sandals
Everyone has their favorite spots and if you’re not vibing with Mango, here are a few other spots I frequent for purchasing summer sandals.
Nordstrom – Nordstrom Rack – Target – Asos – Old Navy
