February always seems to be the coldest month in the Midwest. Everyone exhales a sigh of relief when January ends and then bam… a polar vortex ensues. Well below freezing temps and negative degree wind chills. Spring looks even more distant than it did on New Years Day. So while the pastels start popping up, I’m typically looking at mark downs. Because arguably, this is the best time to buy a winter coat and any other current season wants and needs. We’ll definitely be bundled up for a while.
The Best Time To Buy A Winter Coat
I’m a believer in finding really good winter coats on sale and hanging them up for the following season. Winter coat trends don’t swing far enough to go out of style that quickly. Unless you’re buying something super outlandish. And honestly, I’ll applaud you for it. But my inventory tends to err on the simple side (imagine that) and I’ve found some really good deals this late in the season.
February and March are an awkward time for retailers. The post-holiday slump has ended and people are a little lost on what to buy next. Do we keep buying sweaters or do we stock up for spring? I personally believe the weather dictates the consumer decision and based on my point above, no one is thinking short sleeves around here. So again, right now is such a great time to buy a winter coat!
On Sale Now
From the famous Abercrombie faux leather puffer to a teddy shacket in stock (!) at Asos, there are some insane deals out there right now. I browsed retailers I frequently buy outerwear from and rounded up a few favorites for you below. But just know the search can go way deeper and if you’re looking for something specific, you can definitely find it.
Shopping Tips For Scoring A Winter Coat On Sale
Know what you want ahead of time
Sale inventory is overwhelming right now. If you go into the sale section simply to browse, the point of giving up comes quickly. Have a style in mind, preferably one on your want list, and utilize filters to narrow down the selection.
Shop retailers you trust
Don’t be surprised if the really good deals are final sale. Again, the motivation behind these pre-spring price drops is purging inventory. So, I typically only buy from retailers I trust and know my size in. Just to avoid any unnecessary returns or trying to resell if you don’t like it.
What do you think? Are you still buying winter or headed right to spring?
