No matter what the winter season brings, there’s one thing guaranteed… it will get cold. Ha! Considering we’ve seen our first, and second snow fall in Iowa already this year, I expect to be wearing a winter coat sooner than later. Similar to my recent boot edit, I wanted to put together a winter coat edit sharing the season’s trends that cover all the bases.
THE COAT EDIT
Trendiest
Two styles repeatedly popping up – the faux leather puffer and the shacket. In all honesty, I’ve been a fan of the shacket for years, but the styles this season are elevated and beginning to be hard to find. Same goes for the puffer. I haven’t pulled the trigger on either style because I just can’t find “the one”. But I’m running out of options! I’ve linked the Abercrombie puffer everyone is raving about and the H&M shackets that are oh-so-popular. But more options exist and if you want in on either trend, you’ll have to act fast.
Seriously Warm
You can’t brave a Midwest winter without a thick, warm, functional coat. Same goes for many areas of the country. Anyway, I’m pretty loyal to my Patagonia Radalie Parka. Don’t let the thin puff fool you – this thing is seriously warm. I now have it in two colors because I wear it so often in the winter. Burton is also a go-to brand of mine when you need function. All their products are built for extreme elements and will last forever. I also included the famous Amazon coat because… had to.
Classic “Dad” Coat
Contrary to it’s deemed title, this style is more about the classic long blazer-like coat than it is actually looking like a dad. A style arguably never out of style, I still appreciate the resurgence of popularity. Simple, chic pieces always elevate fall/winter style and these coats are the key to always looking put together… even over your sweats! You don’t have to spend a fortune, either. This one from Old Navy is under $75 and looks fantastic.
Faux Fur
It’s hard to imagine a time when faux fur isn’t a good idea. I’ve added so many to my collection already, but each year, I find another one I just have to have. Different colors, different lengths and weights. These styles are fun. They stand out. I don’t see this “trend” disappearing any time soon.
Do you have a favorite winter coat trend?
