The last time I wore a bucket hat, I was a 3rd grader on family vacation seeing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I know this because we have proof in the form of a printed photograph on 35mm film. A real vacay vibe if you ask me. Not too far off from the Instagram snaps I’m seeing lately, except the 20-somethings look much more chic. It’s safe to assume most people partaking in this revival trend aren’t old enough to have participated back in the 90s, right? Well… I’m personally on round two and loving the bucket hat just as much as the first time.
But it’s not really the bucket hat or the nostalgia I’ve been thinking about since I let go of all uncertainty and ordered the $10 find on Amazon.
A new season
Fall ushers in a wave of new inspiration and confidence for me every year. The crisp air is refreshing, the colorful leaves are mesmerizing. The speed of the world seems to slow down, giving us the precious opportunity to let go. Let go of whatever ailments we’ve been holding onto. Let go of those wicked expectations we have for ourselves. Let go of the remorse and buy the dam hat.
I could ramble on and on, and in a different draft, I did. But sometimes it’s best to keep it simple and straight-forward. Maybe I need to add “excess words” to my list. Blah, blah. Here we go.
I’m letting go of…
Negativity towards myself
The idea of perfection
Overloading my to-do list
Anything except my authentic self
What is one thing you want to let go of this fall?
