There’s nothing quite like the arrival of fall. When you finally feel the brisk morning air. See the leaves begin to change colors. Pull out a sweater for the first time in months. No matter how fast summer seems to slip by, I still get anxious for this seasonal transition every year.
A bonus of it all – the clothes. Of course, this year feels very different for very obvious reasons. While combing through trends this past weekend, I found it interesting to see fall fashion being impacted by our current situation. I figured it would and I’m happy to report, we’ll be going a bit more casual. The fancy items are there if you need it, but the craze revolves around laid-back sets, flat boots and 90s inspired knits. Here are the fall fashion pieces I’m saying yes to.
High-Rise Denim & Chelsea Boots
Hop on the Chelsea boot trend right now because I predict they will be hard to find in a month or two. The must-have boot trend for fall, everyone will be wearing them. I’m eyeing the pair below from Asos, but if you want to invest in something high-end, these Sam Edelman’s are to die for.
Does anyone else find a fresh pair of denim almost necessary as fall approaches? If you don’t already have a good high-rise option in your wardrobe, I suggest jumping into a pair. I’ve heard such good things about Abercrombie denim and I officially have my eye on these cropped flares for under $50.
Chic Athleisure
I’m personally not headed back to the office anytime soon, so my true investments look rather casual for fall. Besides my favorite Zella leggings, I rarely invest in my athleisure looks. Staying home with Emmett and using grocery runs as a “social” outing has me rethinking this completely. I’m loving what all the athletic brands like Nike and Adidas are doing with the 90s throwback looks. They’re making work out clothes look like high fashion & I’m here for it. I can’t decide which pieces I want to pull the trigger on – do I go classic or fun?
The Knits
Something really fun is happening with knits this season. Think girly cardigan sets, matching knit pants, bold shoulders and vests. Yes, vests! I’m all in. For all of it. I’ve been hunting a vest since spring when I saw the trend pop up at Mango. I’m happy to report the selection has grown for fall and now I’m having a hard time deciding which one to snag. Mango has a gorgeous cream one (linked below) I can see being the perfect throw-on. But this edgy one from Zara has my eye and so does this simple piece also from Zara.
As for bold shoulders, I’ve been straying away as my body type typically doesn’t approve. However, this understated shoulder pad sweatshirt from H&M has me wanting to venture out.
In Case I Find A Reason
I will be getting this dress. So far, our plans for fall don’t show many reasons for playing dress up. But in the event the light shines at the end of the tunnel and we have a reason to celebrate, I love this plaid number that feels oh-so-quintessential fall.
What trends are you loving for fall?
xoxo. B
