These high-rise shorts landed in my cart while making my third Target stop in one day, tracking down the right shorts for my husband who needed them for an event the next day. I deserved a pick-me-up, right? I wasn’t even looking, as I try to keep these shopping excursions as quick as possible now, but these high-waist shorts caught my eye anyway. And the $20 price tag ultimately made it feel like an innocent purchase.
Summer fashion truly isn’t my thing, but this year I am really loving some of the trends. The “mom short” being one of the top contenders, landing on my Pinterest board repeatedly. There’s something so effortlessly chic about this 90s comeback – the high waist and wide, pleated leg. Pair with a simple tee or a matching blazer, I could wear this style every day. I ordered a similar pair from H&M earlier in the season and was very disappointed with the fit. I actually blamed my body type, thinking the silhouette wouldn’t work for me at all. This innocent pick-me-up pair of high-rise shorts from the A New Day collection flipped that idea upside down.
The fall transition
We’ve had such amazing weather the past few days and I’m craving fall. Fall fashion, fall weather, fall recipes… everything. I personally love when summer starts to wind down and the crisp air moves in but the sun still shines bright. Perfect sweater & shorts weather, which also gives me fond flashbacks of our Maine getaway this time last year. Ahhh, travel. Anyway, I’m anxious to style these high-waist shorts well into our next season.
For $20, these shorts pack a punch. The linen fabric is light and comfortable, although difficult to keep wrinkles away. A zippered, elastic waistband with the optional belt adds a little give. The length is conservative without being unflattering. I would order your true size & check out the other colors Target offers as well. Shop below!
