Why 30, you ask? The photo below was taken exactly one year ago today… on my 30th birthday. Today, I turn 31! How crazy is that?
Honestly, the year flew by so fast & turning 30 feels like yesterday. I came to terms with entering a new decade pretty easily. Looking back on this photo, I remember feeling so happy and so fulfilled. Right after, T surprised me with bringing my family to town for a birthday dinner & it was such a great night. I had no idea what lay ahead for us going into our 30th year, but looking back, I’m realizing how many lessons have come from the past 365. Finding out I was pregnant has obviously had the biggest impact so far, but along with all of that, I’ve learned more about myself through work, in my social life, and on this blog.
Life truly is full of lessons, big or small… and here are 30 I’ve learned this past year.
The 30 Lessons
-Sometimes you just have to say no | take care of yourself first
-It’s ok to ask for help
-You really don’t have to compare yourself to others | I think this takes time to learn & it’s always a work in progress
-Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring
-Women are amazing | duh, but if pregnancy teaches you anything, it’s this
-I don’t think I’ll ever understand health insurance
-Show up for people, it’s worth it
-Read more, your excuses are dumb
-Carving out uninterrupted quality time with loved ones is essential & irreplaceable
-There is no such thing as a “right” timeline for life | we shouldn’t feel pressured to live by any certain standard of when, how & why
-You don’t need anyone’s permission
-Salmon cooked at home is just ok & I won’t eat the leftovers
-Unfollow | doesn’t bring happiness? #unsubscribe
-Remember who you dreamt of being as a kid? Be that.
-Cutting back doesn’t mean giving up
-We’re blessed with the ability to move our bodies, so move, stretch, do something
-Escape when needed | by yourself, together, whatever
-I would be lost without Cooper | humans don’t deserve dogs
-My enneagram: 9 with a 1 wing
-Attempting to give up coffee will result in complete failure
-People can be really disappointing, but they can also be pretty amazing
-Take care of your skin | officially in my 30s & officially freaking out about aging
-Instagram is overrated | I have mixed feelings like the rest of the world
-Be intentional with life
-Ask more questions, talk less & listen more
-My opinion matters, even if I’m the last person to speak
-I don’t have enough commuter minutes to listen to all the podcasts I want to listen to
-I still hate scary movies
-I’m so thankful to have married my best friend | more pregnancy lessons
-Don’t sweat the small stuff because… it’s all small stuff
Cheers to 31.
xoxo. B

Oh my gosh, I love posts like this! You make so many great points but what really resonated with me was carving out quality time with loved ones. I feel like I’m always trying to pack so many things into a weekend that I’m not actually enjoying quality time. I definitely need to work more at this!

P.S. I swear you’ll find a good salmon recipe that you love making at home! I personally love honey and roasted peanuts on mine!

Happy belated birthday, sweet girl! All these lessons are great and really hit home with me. I’m still working on a lot of these as I turn 31 in only a few short months myself, but I hope with time/age will come more wisdom and self-confidence … just like you! So happy that you seem in such a great place in your life. Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Just sayin’,
