Yup, I said it. The holidays. Crazy, right?! No matter how incredulous it may sound, the time has come to start prepping. Each year I try to improve my holiday prep. The season goes so quick that I’d rather spend as many moments soaking up time with family and friends than stressing about getting things done. I’m a planner, I get it. But I believe even the slightest amount of holiday prep can help anyone have a better season. Here are my tips on how to successfully prep for all the craziness.
Make all the lists
Already shopping for gifts? Make a list like Santa. Have parties to attend that require a shared plate? Make a list of ideas. Need to clean the house for guests? Make a to-do list. Whatever it may be, I always start with a list for this crazy time of year. By the time things are in full swing, I’m thankful to have something to reference so I don’t forget anything.
Mark your calendars
Don’t be the one who forgets about a festive Thursday night happy hour because you didn’t have it on your calendar. It’s easy to double book during the holidays & having an easy-to-access calendar can be a lifesaver. T and I share a Google calendar (seriously, best decision ever) and it’s truly what keeps us painlessly ticking. We’ve had our office holiday parties marked for months so we don’t accidentally commit to something else. As December creeps closer, we’ll definitely be adding more, even if that’s just a night designated to snuggling on the couch.
Outfit plan ahead of time
An office party, a friend’s annual holiday shindig, multiple cheery after-hours gatherings and events around the city. So many things to not only add to your calendar, but to also have an outfit for. Because who doesn’t want to wear something special each time? I know I’m not alone. But honestly, once we hit December, it’s too late in my opinion. Unless you’re not as high-strung as me about outfit planning. Holiday dresses & festive options are already hitting stores, so why wait? Get that hassle out of the way so you can enjoy the most wonderful time of the year.
