Wearing plaid in the fall feels a lot like wearing florals in the spring. You gotta do it, but it’s nothing groundbreaking. Right? Regardless, the festive pattern is absolutely irresistible once there’s a chill in the air. Last year, I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect plaid coat. This year, while feeling a little left out of fall fashion because of the baby bump, I stumbled across a plaid sweater coat I couldn’t resist. No, it’s not the same thing! Promise.
I’m running too hot right now to even think about wearing a legit coat. Our crazy Iowa weather struggles to even out, so fall has definitely been all about layering so far. Which adds to the season’s magic if you ask me. Anyway, my sweater coat collection seems to grow every year because I love these things. They’re light enough to layer over a sweater, but also thick enough to keep you warm and give that cozy jacket-over-sweater layered look. Also easy to carry around if you need to shed a layer indoors or nice to keep on if you’re out and about in the cool weather.
I don’t come across a lot of plaid sweater coats… or sweater coats in general. So when I do, and it’s a good price point, I snag it. I found this one at Nordstrom. Under $50, the exact style sold out very quickly (although there are select sizes left!), but I found some other great ones. All linked below!

This is such a cute look! I’m actually not much of a plaid person, but this coat I can definitely get behind.
Just sayin’,

It’s definitely not “in your face” plaid which is nice! Thanks Karly!
