Happy August, friends! It’s officially official. Back-to-school month, moving month (remembering those college days), last-of-summer month, and for us personally, busy month! And on top of everything else happening, it’s a great month to stock up on some new clothes. Trust me. I always find myself shopping most between now and September. So, I’ve rounded up some great pieces for you to keep an eye on. Just in case you want to join in on the fun.
Lightweight blazer
How many times can I say it? Adding a blazer to your closet is an absolute must. August is the perfect time to start your search for one… or two, depending on how many you find. You’ll be able snag a couple new fall arrivals and even get some on sale summer styles that will transition through the new season. Don’t worry about getting any heavy ones quite yet. Keep it light (even in color!) until we get closer to the holidays. I’m completely obsessed with this navy blue one I scored during the Nordstrom sale. I also have my eye on a houndstooth option from Old Navy – you can never have too many.
Good denim
Because if you’re anything like me, it won’t be long until you’re wearing nothing but denim. Plus, denim trends are having such a moment right now – from your every day skinny to a street style wide leg – you can’t go wrong with collecting a few good pairs. If I didn’t have a growing baby bump, I’d be all over some cropped wide leg options. I’ve got to start searching for some good maternity options, but these linked below are still all non-maternity. And perfect for fall!
Basic tees + tanks
Two words: on sale! We’re in a transition point – retailers will start putting summer items on clearance and there will be back to school sales and all sorts of reasons for discounts. Basic tees and tanks are items you can use year-round, no matter the weather. You might as well pick up some basics at great prices. Tees can be layered under that blazer I know you’re going to buy. Tanks are just a no-brainer when it comes to adding layers. Cover your bases and make sure you’re stocked up on white, gray and black but olive green or a blush pink are great neutrals too.
Transitional dresses
You all know I’m a big fan of the midi-dress trend & I have many to prove it. These are great transition pieces simply for their length, but if you prefer to go short, that’s fine too! I think either length is a great transition piece. Both can be paired well with boots when the weather turns and sweaters and/or blazers make the perfect top layer. Don’t be afraid to add a fun print into the mix. Fall is all about having fun.
Happy Friday!

I feel like I’ve been doing more shopping lately, too. These are all great suggestions – a blazer is definitely something I need to add to my wardrobe for fall!
