Oreos, ice cream, whipped topping & snickers. Do I need to say more? Stolen from my mom’s kitchen (like most things), this Snickers Frozen Dessert perfectly ends any hot summer day. And we’re going to need a break in the heat this week. Mid-90s forecasted every day, I’m planning on hibernating & eating ice cream. Why not?
The first time my mom made this dessert, I about flipped out. It has all my favorite frozen dessert flavors wrapped up in one. Unlike a Dairy Queen blizzard, you don’t have to choose between Snickers and Oreos here – you get them both. Plus the ice cream, plus the caramel. It’s unbelievably decadent.
We love our ice cream in the summer. We love the little local ice cream shops, we love driving to get it in the Jeep and we love ordering something new each time. But this week I’m keeping the ice cream in our own freezer. I can’t wait, but I also realize how dangerous that is. *shrugs shoulders*
If you’re looking for a treat to beat the heat (ha!), I highly recommend making this one. The recipe is easy to modify – see recipe notes below – and I even split it into two mini pans to accommodate our freezer space. Simply delicious. Enjoy!
Frozen Snickers Dessert
Frozen Snickers Dessert
Ingredients
- 1 pkg Oreos
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
- 1 jar Mrs Richardsons Caramel Ice Cream Topping
- 8 oz Cool Whip
- 1 pkg fun-sized Snickers, chopped up
Instructions
-
Crush Oreos and put into a medium bowl. Mix in melted butter. Pat evenly into 9 x 13 pan to make the crust.
-
Soften ice cream enough to spread over Oreo crust.
-
Place in freezer until ice cream firms up.
-
Spread Cool Whip over the caramel & sprinkle with chopped Snickers. Drizzle with caramel topping.
-
Freeze for at least a couple hours to firm up & then enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- Original recipe calls for a layer of caramel between the ice cream and Cool Whip – I modified and drizzled on top, but either way works!
- Add as much or a little caramel as you’d like
- Could use any kind of candy topped you prefer
