Obviously a lot of things change after a positive pregnancy test. I talked about my first trimester in a recent post and all the physical and mental challenges that coincide. Now that I’m in my second trimester (halfway, in fact!), I am feeling great, but am now to the point of complete wardrobe disaster. Why? Well… I’m not huge yet. I look more bloated than pregnant and my regular clothes are too tight, but maternity clothes don’t quite work either. I think it’s going to change rapidly in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime, I’m mostly reaching for loose-fitting non-maternity items like this pink midi dress from Bohme boutique.
Both this dress and Bohme are completely new to me. Actually, this style of dress, this color of dress and this look altogether is completely new for me. Shopping for myself and my growing baby bump terrified me at first. Total uncharted territory, I had and have no idea what my body will do or how it will look even a week from now. At times it gets hard to recognize myself – mentally & physically might I mention. Which is why I was so adamant about hanging onto my personal style while pregnant. I don’t typically dress feminine or girly and I found that to be increasingly difficult to avoid. Especially since my main concern is comfort over everything.
This pink midi dress caught my attention while scrolling through Instagram. It checked all the boxes (comfortable, loose, non-maternity, cute) but yet it didn’t look like something I would typically buy. A little too girly, a little too pink, but in my desperation to find anything to survive summer in, I “added to cart”. To my pleasant surprise, I actually love it. Isn’t that funny? I don’t branch out often, but when I do, I rarely regret it. And I’m still trying to learn that lesson.
Again, this dress is non-maternity, which is amazing. I sized up because I have a feeling I’ll be wearing it all fall, too. The fabric is so soft, the fit is comfortable and you can style it any way you want. I loved adding an edgy touch with these super cute sandals I scored during the H&M sale. They’re out of stock now, but I linked similar ones below.
