When spring rolls around, I immediately start doing inventory of my shoe closet. I don’t exactly know why, but it just seems like the right time to switch things up. I spend way less on my spring and summer shoes, saving the higher quality costs for good winter boots. So, by the time the next spring and summer season rolls around, my shoe options have either worn out or new trends have taken over. This happens pretty much every year, so during my recent online “window shopping” excursions, I’ve gathered a few shoe trends that I’m currently eyeing. My picks are below!
Sneakers
I never thought sneakers would be my footwear of choice. But the day has come. It helps when sneakers are a major trend right now – or more accurately, have been for a few years now. I wear them with everything. Leggings and a denim jacket, a casual dress, a cool satin skirt & hoodie combo, or just skinny jeans and a loose-fitting top. I’ve stocked up on a variety of options, even investing in these amazing Jordans, but I honestly can’t get enough. I have my eye on a throwback Champion pair, Adidas Superstars, a leopard print option (obviously), and a pair of leather Vans. I don’t even know which ones rank highest… which is exactly why I haven’t ordered any yet. I need help!
Anything white
White shoes have been a thing for a while now, but that doesn’t mean I am any less obsessed. I bought a pair of white boots last spring and then scored a cheap pair of white mules at Target over the summer. Both have made reoccurring appearances in my daily outfits. Then, as I’m shopping around for spring shoes this season, I spy all kinds of white options yet again. And I don’t know where to stop. White shoes are such a good choice to polish off work outfits, pair with spring dresses and just to add a simple bright element to neutral looks.
Snakeskin sandals
Sick of snakeskin yet? Heck no! This animal print has been plastered everywhere and I’m all about it. Remember this amazing midi dress and my favorite fall boots? Well, now I’m definitely going to need a pair of snakeskin sandals to carry me through summer. You can officially identify snakeskin as a neutral. These go with almost everything – denim shorts, basic dresses, jeans and they’re even appropriate for the office.
Teva
Even though I think this trend is a little wacky, I am here for it. Teva’s or “teva-like” sandals are all the rage, so pack up your pool slides and get a pair of these. I actually have a pair from our trip to the British Virigin Islands. I bought them for strictly recreation purposes, but now, I get to repurpose them into “fashion” I guess. No matter how silly it seems, I am really loving the look. An alternative to plain flips flops or slides and they add an edgy element to a normal spring or summer outfit. Plus, they’re comfortable! Let’s take advantage while we can.
Do you have any favorite shoe trends right now?
