Travel Bags For Every Destination

Whether it’s a simple weekend getaway or an extended trip across an ocean, having the right luggage can make everything so much easier. The more I travel, the more I realize how important good luggage is. A functional backpack can make getting thru the airport a breeze and durable, quality checked luggage can deter headaches post-flight. There are tons and tons of options for travel bags out there, but I’ve listed some of my favorites for you below. Depending on destination, of course.

A weekend getaway

If we’re headed out of town for the weekend, I try not to pack more than what fits in a duffel bag. Sometimes it’s accompanied by a large tote… but I still consider that pretty good. I love a good duffel bag. Not only are they super cute, but they’re just functional. Lightweight, large opening, easy to throw into the car and grab out of the backseat on the road if needed. We’re usually headed up to the lake when I use my duffel most. I’m currently most obsessed with this new Stella & Dot quilted option. It has so much room, the quality is fantastic (those leather handles are amazing) and you can even expand the bottom if you overpack. Sole Society also has some great leather options. Classic pieces that are durable and look fantastic.

Going light

Travelers who commit to only carry-on luggage truly inspire me. Tell me your secrets! I’ll readily admit that I tend to over pack. So my carry-on situation is usually in addition to checked luggage. Since I usually only need to pack a few things in said carry-on, I keep it pretty small. Plus, I prefer to keep all fuss at the airport to a minimum and the easier it is to lug around, the better. That’s why I love a good backpack option. Hands free! And I also absolutely love the getaway bag from Stella & Dot. The leather handles are durable and comfortable to hang on your shoulders. In true S&D travel bag fashion, it also expands in case you come home with a few extra treasures.

The long haul

I don’t have a lot of experience with different types of checked luggage. We were gifted a couple Swissgear roller bags for our wedding and have been using them ever since. These bags aren’t something you want to replace very often, and I can tell you, ours have held up! Quality and durability matters most when the luggage is being carelessly tossed in and out of airplanes. We always have to clean ours when we get home. I’ve toyed with the idea of buying a hard shell suitcase, but can’t decide. Do you have a preference?

Do you have any go-to travel bags?

xoxo. B

I totally appreciate a post like this – I have an odd obsession with travel bags (even though we don’t go anywhere all that often, ha!). Some of those weekender bags are so pretty!

Omg, me too! We would have all the bags if Ty would let me, lol. So instead, I’ve tried to focus on functional (but cute) ones. Definitely worth it!
