Sometime in mid-April of 2016, we made the last sweep in the kitchen, living room and bathroom renovation of our home. Even though the entire process only took about 4 months (thanks to wonderfully helpful family & friends), we were exhausted and ready to enjoy our new, updated spaces. Our kitchen had gone from blue countertops & outdated appliances to modern cabinets & a minimal color scheme. Our bathroom, once a dated and unfortunate situation, transformed into a beautiful and marble-tiled dream. After all the dust, paint, dirt, tape, etc was cleaned up, we sighed with relief. And our original plan of tearing into the bedrooms the following winter didn’t quite pan out.
But now that we’re nearing the second reno-versary with a light weekend schedule for the next couple months, we decided to get back to work. First up, the “office”. I say “office” because what was intended to be a room for paying bills, working or whatever, ended up a junk space. If you’ve been following on Instagram, you know we finally cleaned it out, got rid of the old desk, ripped up carpet & are on our way to completing one of three bedroom renovations.
As with any renovation, comes new purchases. We plan to keep the bedrooms pretty simple in order to keep the renovation budget low, but there are always items you eventually need. Bedding, artwork, frames, shelves… lots of things. This got me thinking about my go-to retailers for home items. I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to buying for our home, and I’ve come to trust certain brands. Thinking you guys may wonder where I’m shopping over the next few months, I decided to put the list together for you below.
My go-to stores
The Container Store | For everything we need to organize. We ordered an elfa door organizer for our entry closet & it has changed the game. I also love visiting the store to get ideas on how to keep things tidy.
Homegoods | I keep our home pretty minimal and don’t buy a lot of decor items per say. But if I do, I stop by Homegoods. It’s my favorite for blankets, frames and throw pillows – the price is right and they always have trendy items.
Zola | Did you know Zola is more than a wedding registry? You can actually use it as a home decor, kitchen, bed and bath retailer. And the thing I love most about this is they offer a collection of products from all kinds of retailers – just like how their registry works. When I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for, I love visiting Zola to shop around. So convenient!
Williams-Sonoma | My favorite. We registered here for our wedding, so our kitchen is stocked with goodies from WS. Plus, if I need anything for the kitchen, I usually shop here first. The quality can’t be beat.
Target | Of course! Who doesn’t shop at Target for home stuff? I try to keep it minimal because it’s easy to go overboard on a Target run. But every once in a while, you just can’t resist.
Do you have any go-to retailers for your home?

I always appreciate posts like this! Especially since your home looks so perfectly curated. I wish we had a Container Store closer to us, even though it’s probably a good thing we don’t. I’d go nuts, haha! I’m not doing too much home decorating these days, but IKEA is always a go-to for me and I also love World Market.

Aw, yay! And thank you for saying that, because at times, I feel like my decor is a hot mess. I rearrange frequently. World Market is a place I always forget about and yes, the Container Store is dangerous!
