But really… I’m posting about holiday party outfits. How crazy is that? I started getting more and more emails about holiday collections last week and realized I needed to jump on the bandwagon. I mean, our first holiday party is three weeks away! And if you’re like me and search, search, search for that perfect holiday party outfit, you need to start getting serious.
I’ll keep this pretty short and let you get to shopping, but below are the trends I’m eyeing while searching for holiday styles. And side note – I kept it all under $150. Gotta save money for presents!
Sequins
I am all about the sequins this year. The minute I saw this sequin suit at Asos, I was addicted. I get that it can be intimidating to wear such a flashy garment, but my thought is, just rock it. Downplay a sequin blazer with a cotton tee or match a sequin long sleeve top with laid-back denim. You’ll be festive and fun.
Animal print
It may not be the most traditional choice, but since animal print has made such a impact this season, I think it’s perfect for holiday gatherings as well. Even Thanksgiving! My favorite styles are the midi length dresses, but I’m also pretty fond of leopard print skirts. Add a pop of red with snake print to make it more “holiday” or add a lot of sparkle to leopard print to dress it up. It’s fun!
Velvet
Yup, velvet is sticking around. And I’m happy about it. I think it’s such a festive fabric and the texture makes any outfit feel more elegant. I’m partial to the idea of a velvet blazer (especially for work events) or a velvet pleated midi skirt. But you also can’t go wrong with a simple velvet dress. I still have mine from a couple years back and don’t know if I’ll ever part with it – so classic!
Have you been holiday outfit shopping yet?
