This past Friday, my mom and I escaped for a little getaway to Decorah, Iowa. A family friend had a fun pop-up shop for local vendors and we thought it was a perfect excuse to have a fun fall day. We figured we’d visit the shop, then stroll along Decorah’s main street where multiple boutiques line the street. We stopped at a really cute coffee shop for breakfast and ended up exploring some beautiful falls right outside of town, where these pictures were taken. It ended up being a great fall day and wearing denim and this American Eagle sweater kept me comfortable and warm.
There are few things I enjoy buying more than cozy sweaters and few things I enjoy wearing more than cozy sweaters. That’s why I get so excited over items like this American Eagle sweater. I originally found it online, but decided to make a trip to the store to look at the color options in person. I always tend to go neutral in the fall and winter – I mean, you really can’t beat the basic camel sweater – but wanted to switch it up this time around.
Besides the color, I immediately fell in love with the style, fit and feel the second I slipped it on. I’m not lying when I say this American Eagle sweater is the softest piece in my closet at the moment. It looks and acts like sweater, but fits and feels like a super soft sweatshirt. I guess they named it very appropriately – the cloudspun sweater. Not going to lie, American Eagle is quickly becoming a go-to spot for basics. I bought a few items there this past summer and fell in love with their easy looks & awesome price point. Great example – this sweater is under $50! And that’s not even on sale. It also comes in so many gorgeous colors, I’m tempted to buy them all. It’s just that good.
Best way to wear sweaters in the fall? With denim & boots, of course! I’m so glad my favorite Sam Edelman Penny boots are back in stock for the season. You guys, they are the best. They look barely worn and trust me, I had them on constantly last season. I always try to invest in a higher quality basic boot because they’re more likely to last a few seasons. So, if you’re looking for that perfect staple pair this year, here they are.

Aw thank you! The setting was hard to beat, so I’m glad the photos turned out. I’m going to try AE denim again – I haven’t in years. I used Lauren Kay Sims tutorial to start curling my hair different, but this winter I plan on posting my own!
