I’ve been wanting to do a fun post like this for some time now, and I’m glad I’m finally sharing some random things you may not know about me. I got the idea after reading (and loving) similar posts by Karly at What Karly Said & Jessica at My Style Vita. When you follow and read a blog regularly, it’s fun to learn even more about the person behind the blog. I hope you think so, too!
8 Things You May Not Know About Me
1| I grew up on a farm in small town Iowa. Everyone knew everyone and my graduating class size was well under 100. I’m still extremely close to many of my friends from childhood and have the “small town culture” to thank for that.
2| I enjoy collecting art. Our house is full of unique pieces we’ve purchased while traveling or at art festivals. We made our first major purchase this past summer – a scissor drawing by Ella Richards from Greenwich Village. She’s been a favorite since the day I saw her work a few years back at the Des Moines Arts Festival & I saved up to finally install one in our home!
3| When T and I met, we met twice in one day. Once in the morning while tailgating, a mutual friend introduced us. Then, we got re-introduced at the bar later the same day. The next day we went on our first date & have been together ever since!
4| I’m somewhat of a neat freak. I absolutely hate a dirty house. Furthermore, I hate a cluttered house. I spend at least 5-15 minutes each night just straightening things up and putting things away so I can relax and wake up to a clean space. I’ve gotten better about not being sooo crazy about this because it does tend to stress me out. But nothing’s better than a clean house, right?
5| Salty or sweet? Both. My favorite desserts and sweet treats involve a little something of both. Salted caramel, anyone?
6| I turn 30 this year (in a few short weeks) and I can’t tell if I just don’t care or if I’m low-key freaking out. Age is an odd thing – I don’t feel 30… most people don’t say I seem 30… we’ll see how I feel once that day comes. Stay tuned!
7| When I was 15, my parents let me travel to Europe with two friends and a tour group of college kids. Looking back, my mom still has no idea how that happened, but it’s an experience I frequently reflect on & am beyond thankful for. Coming from a small town, it opened up my world to so many things & I believe it had a huge impact on the person I became.
8| Since it’s fall, it seems appropriate to include this: I don’t like anything pumpkin or apple flavored. No pumpkin spice lattes or apple crisp for me. I’ve never liked it, don’t know why. But, I do love the smell of pumpkin spice or baked apple candles – so that kind of counts, right?
Do you have any random facts about yourself? I’d love to hear some in the comments!

Yay! I’m so glad that you did a post like this. Some of my favorites to write and read. That is so awesome that you got to travel Europe back in the day – one of my biggest regrets from college is not studying abroad for a semester. My high school graduating class was almost 900, so I can’t even imagine growing up in a small town – lol! And, heck yes to salted caramel!

Well thank you for the inspiration! It was a fun one to write – something different! 900 would be insane! And I still don’t know how I got my parents to say yes to that trip lol – we laugh about it a lot!
