Oh Des Moines, how I love you. Honestly, I fall in love with our little city over and over again as it grows and grows. The changes and improvements I’ve seen in the past 7.5 years of living here are just so great. So many new restaurants, activities and places to discover and there’s no sign of slowing down. That’s why I get so excited when a new business like Bottle & Bottega pops up in the neighborhood.
Wine and painting classes have become the rage (at least in the Midwest) for something different to do on a weeknight or a unique way to celebrate a birthday or bachelorette party. I’ve seen a few scattered throughout the suburbs of our city and pop-ups in different restaurants and venues. Even though I had attended a wine and painting class before, the media event James & Bridget (B&B owners) put on for multiple bloggers and media outlets proved Bottle & Bottega is truly different.
What makes Bottle & Bottega different?
The Location
Located steps away from many major employers in the downtown area and within walking or short drive distance from Des Moines’ most popular restaurants & bars, Bottle & Bottega is in the perfect spot. I love the idea of an after-work happy hour with your co-workers (bonding, anyone??) or a fun pre-party to going out on the town. The large windows provide city views while sipping wine & painting away. With more and more demand for things to do downtown, Bottle & Bottega came just at the right time.
The Variety
We were invited for the classic paint on canvas class, but to my pleasant surprise, they do so much more! You can paint your own wine glass, paint on wood, do a mosaic on canvas or explore their seasonal options which vary. Oh, and you bet painting your pet is on my list of classes to attend. How fun is that? I just love that each group can choose a class that’s right for them.
The Atmosphere
Not only did James & Bridget make the experience oh-so-authentic, but their studio space is as unique as it gets. Bright colored walls, downtown views, funky furniture & a wine glass chandelier all create this amazing atmosphere that fuels your creativity to uncork your inner artist. It’s truly cozy. I loved reading about their journey from franchise to studio in this unique space, so I encourage you to check that out as well. With all these ingredients, it’s honestly the first wine and sip spot I’ve been to that I’ve said ‘I’ll definitely be back!’.
Why not do something different, right? Have you ever been to a wine & paint class? Let me know what you thought in the comments!
xoxo. B
