I have actually been reading regularly again. Still not as much as I really want to, but I’m getting better at making a conscious effort to carve out time to read at night. It also helps when you pick up page-turners and get sucked into a story. And from the moment I picked up Into the Water by Paula Hawkins, I couldn’t put it down. One of those hook-you-right-away kind of stories. Full of mystery and multiple viewpoints, I don’t think anyone could resist this book. Unless you don’t like mystery, of course. But, that would be weird… right?
Into the Water
The novel revolves around the small town of Beckford and the mysterious reoccurring deaths of women in the water. Murder, suicide, and unsolved cases, the narrative twists and turns through multiple characters and their involvement in the victims’ lives and actual deaths. Why were these women drawn to the water? Why this particular spot in the water?
Jules, sister of recent victim, Nel, and Lena, daughter of Nel & best friend to Katie (another victim) lead most of the story. They have more information than the average townie. The Townsend family, whose presence is almost always unsettling, have stories of their own. The Whittaker’s are still grieving from Katie’s visit to the water. And Detective Morgan and crazy Nickie Sage are obsessed with figuring it all out. And as you wind through each of these individual stories, their narratives collide and intertwine to create a complex little world along the river in Beckford.
If you read and enjoyed Hawkins’ other bestseller, The Girl on the Train, you’ll also love Into the Water. It’s got the mystery, the suspense, the psychological twists and an unexpected ending (in my opinion, at least) that you would expect. I’m a big fan of Hawkins’ style of writing and the way she writes from multiple viewpoints. It’s truly captivating & that’s what keeps the pages turning for me.
Have you read any good books lately?

I remember loving this book! I just love her writing, like you mentioned. B.A. Paris books are my latest suspense obsessions, so maybe check some of hers out if that’s the type of book you like!
