Happy fall! Officially! Just in time, we finally felt some fall weather blow in over the weekend and I’m really ready for it to stick around. I’m ready for our windows to be open, sweaters to be worn and boots to come out. To be clear – I’m not willing the months away though. Let’s hope for a slow, long fall. I know it’s a long shot, but one can wish. Now, onto the subject of today – transitional jackets.
I invested in this olive green transitional jacket last year, and have worn it so many times, I’ve lost count. Whether it’s spring to summer or summer to fall, a lightweight jacket like this comes in so handy. Cool mornings and warm afternoons make them perfect layering pieces to keep warm, but not to the point of being bundled up. They also pair perfectly with shorts to make your outfit appear more “fall-like” while the warm temperatures stick around.
I believe Topshop actually called this particular piece a “shacket” – a cross between a shirt and jacket – so it really is incredibly light. A transitional jacket can be something like this “shacket”, or it can be a regular denim jacket, a moto jacket or even a more durable corduroy option. I’m currently on the hunt for a corduroy jacket, by the way – my crush for fall. Anyway… a few similar options & others I adore for this season are linked below. If you’re looking for a transitional jacket this season, I highly recommend peaking around at Topshop, Old Navy or H&M. All have great options!

Yes! I’m all about transitional jackets this time of year – pretty sure my green military jacket is the most-worn piece of clothing that I own. This is such a good one that you found! I second H&M for great coats.

Seriously! They are honestly the best thing. I need to get a few more so I can officially rotate this one lol!
