While taking these photos back home at the lake, I couldn’t help but reflect on how incredibly fast this summer has gone. Labor Day always feels like the official close of summer and it’s only a few days away. Going into the season, T and I were excited about how many free weekends we had – quite a contrast to summers before when all our friends (including us) were getting married. We thought the free time might allow for more summer fun and make the time slow down. It may have done the opposite. Or at least it feels that way! I am happy with the amount of time I’ve had on the water, and feel blessed simply for having the opportunity. And trust me, I’m ready for fall. My favorite time of year is approaching, but summer always just disappears.
And since I’m sure most, if not all, of you feel the same, I’ll stop rambling. Wondering where I got this perfect end-of-summer sweatshirt? Actually, it’s perfect for all summer, but reserved for those cool nights sitting by a fire – which hopefully we’ll have more of this fall. The minute I discovered this north bound sweatshirt, I had to have it. How perfect? Come to find out, Mabel is an online shop nestled right here in Des Moines. Serious! I not only love stumbling upon new and exciting things, but when it’s in your own backyard (figuratively), it’s even better.
So where will you find me over Labor Day weekend? North bound, of course. To the lake I go to soak up a little more sunshine and squeeze in more time on the water. I can’t imagine bidding adieu to summer any other way.
