When something impresses me this much, I feel like I need to share. For the good of the world. Ok… the blogging world. Because all the bloggers who are writing multiple times a week and managing all social channels need any shortcut they can get. Including me. When I found out about Tailwind, a scheduling app for Pinterest and Instagram, I signed up for the service immediately. In short, Tailwind offers automated pinning and Instagram posting. At first it felt a little overwhelming to gather pins ahead of time, use another program instead of just logging into Pinterest. So I procrastinated on utilizing the service to it’s fullest potential until recently. I finally challenged myself to fill my pin schedule and pin more than ever to hopefully result in higher engagement and more followers. And I’m here to tell you exactly how Tailwind changed my Pinterest game since then.
I’ve heard(read) so many success stories using Tailwind and since I’m balancing this blog and a full time job, I need all the help I can get. Like most, I can’t be logged in all day, checking notifications and posting. Nor do I want to be. But I also don’t want my social media outlets to suffer just because I can’t be logged in all day. I schedule Facebook posts & automate Twitter. Why can’t Pinterest work the same way? Once I started using Tailwind as it should be used, I went from stressing about pinning everything over lunch or when I got home at night (for at least an hour) to spending less than 15 minutes on Pinterest a day. I don’t even have to log in if I don’t want to. Tailwind to the rescue!
So here’s the deal. Tailwind can explain the details of how it works way better than I can. I’ll leave that to them. I figure it’s easiest and most effective to show you statistics of my success with the service instead. It’s safe to say I started focusing my efforts back in May, but with more and more traction as of late, I gathered insights from the past 30 days. The least amount of growth has been with my actual followers, but I’ve had extreme growth in repins & overall engagement. Before May, my monthly viewer count was under 100K. Now, I reach over 450K consistently, doubling in less than a month.
That is insane. And it’s all because of Tailwind’s ability to pin while I can’t and be active during the most high traffic times.
With all social media these days, engagement reigns. Follower count is also very important, but if those followers aren’t engaging or viewing your content, what’s the value? I do have high goals set for follower count, but I’m happy with my average 5 new followers a week right now. That should grow steadily if I continue my current tactics and gain more exposure. What I’m most concerned about now is getting my pins in front of the masses to attract those future followers. The more monthly viewers I have, the more repins I’ll get and (hopefully) that will all result in a higher following. Without hardly any daily effort on my end.
Tailwind has literally changed the game for me.
You may be wondering what I’m pinning. No, I don’t only pin from my own site and I don’t believe there’s a perfect recipe for what to pin. I truly use Pinterest as an outlet to gain inspiration for outfits, recipes and all the in between. I simply pin what I like which mainly consists of my own content(to promote posts), blended with inspiration I like to gather. I’m also part of a few “tribes”, which I won’t get in to today. But if you sign up for Tailwind, I highly recommend getting involved with a community.
In the end, even if you use the minimal services Tailwind offers, I guarantee you’ll see results. Being consistent in this crazy social media world is important and I’m thankful to have services out there to help.
Have you tried Tailwind or any other similar services?
xoxo. B
