Isn’t it weird that summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st? Especially when high temperatures begin mid-May. We’re technically still in spring, according to the seasonal calendar, but it sure feels like summer. And people definitely act like it’s summer after Memorial Day Weekend – the unofficial kick-off. So, I figured it’s time to start dressing like summer and get my outfits in order for all the activities ahead. My mom and I did some boutique shopping while in Marco Island this past month & I’m so glad she talked me into buying this O’Neill smocked skirt.
Some of T and I’s favorite summer activities include outdoor concerts, patio drinks with friends, backyard parties and weekends at the lake. I fell in love with this O’Neill smocked skirt because it’s perfect for all the above. My immediate inclination was to pair the relaxed skirt with a simple graphic tee. I love the casual combination – comfortable and functional for those hot summer nights. But, I can also see it paired with a short-sleeve white button-down or used as a beach cover up with a cut-out one-piece suit. Speaking of which, I’m obsessed with my new one-piece from American Eagle. Pleasantly surprised by the quality and overly happy with the price – under $30!
Ok…
…back to the launch of summer and this perfect summer skirt. Even thought the above-90 temps arrived earlier than preferred, I’m still excited for the new season. The late sunsets and outdoor shenanigans… the ice cream stops and Jeep drives… the grilled food and get-togethers… ahh, summer is good.
