Culottes – a formal term for the midi-length, wide-cut trousers you’re seeing everywhere right now. I’ve been in love with this light, breezy style since purchasing my first pair (the ones pictured!) a few years ago. Instantly hooked on the comfort and laid-back look, my obsession has now taken over my plans for a summer wardrobe. I’m finding so many good options while shopping, I’m having a hard time containing myself. And since I’m planning to continue this trend all season, I figured I’d share a few ways I’m styling culotte pants for summer.
If you want to know my trick…
…it’s pretty simple. I don’t put much thought into it. Honestly. My best outfits usually come when I don’t over think it, and that’s exactly what I’ve done while styling culotte pants. If you choose a printed pair, the top can be pretty basic. Just how I styled the tropical-printed ones from LOFT, a tucked-in graphic tee works perfectly for an easy day look, or even dinner on a restaurant patio. But, while we were in Florida with limited carry-on baggage space, I decided to pair these dusty pink culottes with my new short-sleeve button down top from Target. I originally bought the top for a beach cover up option, but quickly decided it was the perfect companion to these pants for Saturday brunch.
Crop tops are also a great match for culottes. Typically having a higher waist line, it’s most flattering to show that off. If you opt for longer top, simply tuck it in and work the waist line that way. As for shoes, flat sandals or wedges look great for summery outfit. Add sunglasses and a great bag and you’re set.
Do you like the culotte trend?
