By the time you read this, I’ll be in the air en route from our connection in Chicago to Fort Myers, Florida! From Fort Myers, we’ll drive south to Marco Island for a couple days of relaxation. My mom and I decided to do a little getaway after a busy winter and the fact that it landed on Mother’s Day is even better. With a condo to stay at and knowing the area from previous trips, the only challenge for this getaway was packing only a carry-on bag. I’m notorious for over-packing and I’ve been challenging myself to improving. So, this was the perfect test. And since you all voted yes on my Insta-stories poll to see my Marco Island packing list, I’ve included my essential items below.
Keep in mind, since going on our Cabo honeymoon and visiting the British Virgin Islands the next year, I stocked up on a lot of tropical vacation essentials. Therefore, I don’t have to do a lot of shopping when it comes to warm getaways. No complaints here. So even though these items aren’t exactly what’s in my suitcase, the list stays true to the outfits I have planned.
Loose Pants + Rompers
I have an endless obsession with loose and printed pants this season, as you well know. My new LOFT pants are packed and I’m excited to wear them out to dinner by the water. Rompers are another key item in my closet. Will rompers ever die? I really hope not. I have a couple packed from last season, but I’m loving this simple cotton one from Nordstrom. Throw it on with some slides and you’re done. Because after a long day in the sun, easy is key.
Swim Suit + Cover Ups
Obviously. We don’t have a lot planned for our little time in Marco Island, but sitting on the beach or next to the pool made the priority list. Lately I’ve been obsessed one one-piece suits. Whether it’s because they’re on trend, or the fact that I’m leaving my 20s soon, I don’t care. I love them. There are so many great choices for any budget, but the two I’m currently crushing on are this J.Crew color block piece and Aerie’s cut-out option (linked below). Both so cute! And don’t forget the cover up. I’m notorious for picking all white dress options and have no plans to change. They have to be loose and comfortable and I have an oldie but goodie in the suitcase.
The Right Accessories
Last, but not least, sunglasses and hair accessories. Since I’m squeezing into a carry-on, I decided to skip the straw hat and opt for cute head wraps. I never thought head wraps would stick around as long as they have, but they are definitely having a moment again. I’m loving all the fun colors and patterns. I’ve linked my Urban Outfitters pick below. As for sunglasses, you really can’t go wrong with any Quay Australia options. I’m loving these round ones and have a black pair in the bag.
Stay tuned for a recap of our (hopefully) sunny weekend!
xoxo. B
