My Favorite Striped Pants For Spring

When the weather finally cooperates and these striped pants finally make an appearance… it’s a good day.  Actually, a good week, because Iowa’s spring weather has been out and about since Sunday.  A major feat for a very cold and wet season we’ve been having in the Midwest.  My hometown, two and a half hours northwest of Des Moines, got 10-12″ of snow within the last couple weeks.  How crazy is that?  So it’s safe to say, all of us here are more than happy to see some green grass poking through.  Well, at least until we have to start mowing again.

Besides the weather, life has been pretty normal recently.  T and I took advantage of the spring-like weather on Sunday and completed our first 9 holes on the golf course for the year.  My arms wore out by the last tee off, but we’re golfing in April, so I’ll take it.  I’m in denial that April is coming to an end – seriously where does the time go – so good thing I have a Florida escape coming up in a couple weeks!  A quick getaway with my mom that I cannot wait for.

…let’s get to this outfit.  Because I’m head-over-heels in love with these striped pants.  Patterned pants are a huge spring trend this year, along with high-waist silhouettes and interesting hemlines.  So, naturally, Nordstrom delivered a wide range of options featuring all three.  And when I laid eyes on this striped pair by BP., they were added to my cart in about .2 seconds.  I have short legs, so I will admit I was nervous about the fit, but pleasantly surprised that they are not only comfortable & lightweight, but also flattering.  The vertical stripes definitely help and that ruffle hem hits at just the right spot.

As for the top, I have plenty of white tanks and tees in my closet, but I wanted something simple with a modern twist.  Statement tops are also a hit this spring, but not wanting to take away from the pants too much, I found the perfect answer at Target!  For under $20, nonetheless.  Part of their new line, A New Day, I love the comfortable fabric and pop of detail in the sleeves. This outfit will be perfect for the office, showers, and weekend get-togethers all season long.
