Yesterday was Cooper’s 1st birthday. Talk about a day that makes us look like crazy dog parents. Not only did he get extra cuddles, we also spoiled him with birthday treats (check out my Instagram stories) and a new toy. Obviously Cooper had no clue why he was getting special treatment, but we were excited for the day anyway. Maybe even a little too excited. Which got me thinking about how dogs make us happier. So much happiness revolves around our little pup and I think almost any – hopefully all – dog owners would feel the same. How exactly does he make us happier? Well…
He’s so fun to watch.
Even on Sundays when his day revolves around watching squirrels in the living room window, we’re amused. We love seeing him prance around the yard and we love catching him watching movies with us. He loves dogs on TV! Beyond that, we’ve learned the “many faces of Cooper” because that boy has some personality. Whether he’s giving us puppy eyes while cooking dinner or side-eye when he’s over all the attention, he’s always entertaining.
Always happy to see us.
No matter how bad a day T or I have (hopefully not both), everything’s erased with Cooper’s excitement when we open the door. There may not be anything in this world more genuine than a dog’s smile or tail wag when they see their humans.
We think he’s the cutest.
Duh. We’re obviously prejudice, but watching him grow from a little tiny pup to an adorable dog has been the best. When I look at pictures from the week we got him, I can’t believe how long his nose got and how tiny he once was! Yes, I’m talking like I have human children. In my defense, he does always receive compliments on his spots and the heart shape on his forehead – we’re trying not to let it go to his head.
We do things together.
From T getting to take him hunting – Llewllins are bird dogs – to me getting cuddle time and walks whenever I want, Coop has definitely increased our activity time. We love spending time with him at the dog park, in the yard at home, taking him on Jeep rides, or walking a trail. We’ll take any excuse to include him in our activities. I’ve also discovered a passion for photographing his adorable face. He’s still a little camera shy, but you can find him on Instagram.
Happy Birthday, Coopy!
Are you an obsessed dog parent or am I ridiculous??

This is so sweet! Obviously, I agree with all of the above and we’re just as obsessed with Finn in our household. I seriously could watch his facial expressions all day – they crack me up. Happy doggy birthday, Cooper!

Cooper says thank you! I’m so glad I’m not alone in the obsession! I have to purposely keep myself busy sometimes because I am always watching/cuddling/playing with him. I figure this is the case in most houses with the cutest dogs 🙂
