I’m typically an advocate for winter. Ever since I was little, snow has been my favorite element to play in and I don’t mind the cold weather that tags along. I think it’s beautiful to look at, fun to play in, and I love a good cozy sweater to keep warm. So even though we’ve had a pretty dry winter in Des Moines so far, I’m trying not to lose hope. Which means there are likely plenty of winter days left until we escape layers and boots and move into spring fashion. Even if Pinterest says otherwise.
I usually have a mid-winter crisis where I look at my overflowing pile of sweaters and convince myself not one of them will keep me warm enough or look cute enough for my mood that day. Same goes for my coats, boots, and accessories, so I end up taking advantage of sales and discounted items to have a mid-season refresher. Now is a great time to snag some winter essentials at lower prices. Retailers are looking to clear their shelves for lighter items while we still need to stay warm – win, win! Here are my mid-winter favorites.
1. Satin Skirt – H&M | 2. Faux Fur Pom Hat – Lauren Ralph Lauren | 3. Lonnie Faux Fur Vest – BB Dakota | 4. Quill Drop Earrings – stella & dot | 5. BDG Waffle Knit Sweater – Urban Outfitters | 6. belif aqua bomb – Sephora | 7. Faux Fur Collar Coat – Topshop | 8. Oversized Flannel Scarf – Old Navy | 9. 1964 Premium Leather Boots – Sorel
Sometimes all it takes for an outfit to feel refreshed is a new accessory. That’s why I love finding great blanket scarves at Old Navy for only $13.99! I also like to sneak in a new pair of earrings. These marble drops are so chic and add a fun element to any outfit.
No matter what event I’m headed to in the cold months, I always layer up to stay warm. A faux fur vest is the perfect piece to throw over a long sleeve top, a sweater or even a dress. And the cozier the sweater, the better off I am. I love wearing a relaxed fit sweater with skinny jeans and boots for an easy, casual look.
These Sorel boots have saved my feet this winter. I can’t say enough good things about them – they are warm, comfortable and waterproof so your feet stay dry. A lifesaver in this wet, rainy winter we’ve been having.
Satin will soon replace velvet as we merge into the spring season, so this satin midi skirt will not only make a chic winter outfit with tights and boots, but it will be a perfect piece to transition into spring with heels and a light sweater.
And last but not least, belif’s aqua bomb is the only moisturizer I use on my skin to keep it healthy in winter elements. I’m far from a beauty expert, but if there is one product I cannot live without, it is this.
Do you have any mid-winter favorites?
xoxo. a

I love all of these! it seems like so many bloggers have “spring fever” but we can’t even begin to think about spring until mid-march here! I am really liking the cold shoulder sweater trend and also just bought a sleeveless turtleneck sweater {target clearance baby!} that i’ll wear with a jacket for now and alone once it gets warmer!

Love these! Love the satin shirt. I will probably prefer the satin trend over the velvet one.

That pom hat is the cutest thing. I think I saw that same one at the Polo store too and loved it but I just don’t look good in hats, sadly lol And sorels are the best! I bought some for my sister for Christmas and after she opened them I obviously had to try them on and they were the cutest and most warm boots. Totally wish I asked for a pair of my own lol

Love all of these! I am totally all about the winter months and I live in the wrong state at the moment… It has been so warm lately, we could probably jump in a pool! But, I need that fur vest and knit sweater!
