velvet floral.

January in the Midwest can be a bit brutal – especially when you start the year off with a tropical vacation.  The excitement of the holidays is over, temperatures always dip below freezing and without snow, the brown grass can be a bit depressing to look at.  In our house, the first month of the year is almost always dedicated to sweatpants and early nights.  No complaints.

But when cabin fever hits and I need a glass of red wine and a warm appetizer, getting ready always feels good.  My style simplifies in the dead of winter, so playing with textures and prints becomes vital to making an outfit feel special.  Velvet has been my favorite trend all season and when Romwe sent this amazing floral dress in the beautiful fabric, I couldn’t wait to find an excuse to wear it.

Wearing a dress over jeans may sound odd at first, but with the right lengths and fit, it works great for a chic layered look.  Plus, it keeps you nice and warm!  These skinny jeans from Banana Republic have been a staple for me this year.  They fit tight around the ankle and knees so no bunching occurs when tucking them into boots or when wearing them under a long tunic or dress.

Dress: Romwe  |  Coat: Sabine (similar here and here)  |  Denim: Banana Republic  |
Boots: Aldo (similar here)  |  Earrings: Kate Spade

This dress is one of my favorite items on Romwe right now and the fit and quality are great. I loved styling it with a faux fur jacket and can’t wait to wear it throughout spring and even next fall!

Have you ever shopped at Romwe?

I absolutely adoreee the outfit right down to the boots and coat, literally how did you get the browns to match perfectly, it looks so good! I love that site Rowme, they have such cute stuff but I’ve never ordered anything off of there yet because I haven’t heard of anyone I knew ordering off of there so I wasn’t sure how legit it was, but do you like it? Are they good?

    xo, JJ

Aw, thank you! I think the browns matching was just luck. The coat and boots are a couple years old and the dress is brand new! I have had luck with Romwe a couple times but highly recommend reading descriptions and reviews carefully! It’s just another discount online store, but they have good stuff!

Seriously! I usually like winters, too, but this dreary, no snow thing is not sitting well! So hard to get up in the morning and be motivated! Thanks so much!
