This week has finally felt like fall, bringing chilly mornings and warm, sunny afternoons. Every year the weather cools down, I realize how much I adore this season. The leaves are starting to change, boots and scarves are in store windows and comfort food is on the menu. Can it stay like this forever?
Now that I’ve had my “i love fall” moment for the day, can we talk about pumpkin spice lattes? Specifically, can we talk about how long it took me to realize what PSL stood for? Not my best millennial moment, but sometimes I find myself lost in all these acronyms. I realize (now) that Starbucks writes this on the cup when you order a pumpkin spice latte, but I wouldn’t know from experience because I don’t like pumpkin spice. Like how I sneaked that in there?
So now you know my secret. I will travel the Midwest to visit pumpkin patches and I will fill my house with boots and scarves, but I will not drink a PSL. Or anything pumpkin flavored for that matter. But, I promise you my love for fall is still endless. And what better way to show it than a good black and white Volcom flannel. Well, besides your flavored latte, of course.
I scored this plaid flannel during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it has been anxiously sitting in my closet ever since. With cold weather gear, I don’t mess around with brands and being an active person in the fall and winter months requires high quality clothes to stay comfortable but still trendy. Volcom is one of those brands I’ve been shopping for years, right alongside Burton, Ride and Roxy. Stay tuned this fall/winter as I incorporate more of these brands into my every day.
Jeans and booties would be flannel’s classic companion, but when warm temps stick around, pairing black denim shorts with this cozy top works perfect. In this case, I also chose wedges as my feet still resist boots in the heat, but I’m looking forward to the switch.

Have you worn your favorite flannel yet this fall?
