Growing up, I couldn’t wait to go back-to-school shopping. My mom would take my brother and I for a whole weekend and we’d stock up on clothes and school supplies. I would be so excited to wear the clothes, all my new outfits would be used up by the end of the first week.
The next best thing to new clothes were new school supplies. Does anyone else have an obsession with school (or now office) stuff? Pens, notebooks, folders, book covers, you name it. I would troll the aisles of Target looking for the perfect combination and unlike my clothes, I would savor the new supplies, not wanting to ruin the fresh look of my notebook.
Now, as I’m “adulting” thru Target for laundry detergent, I casually make my way to the back-to-school section just to peek. And when I see a little girl freak out about that bright pink binder, I can’t help but get a little excited for her.
Where am I going with this? Well, I was a little skeptic at first, but I recently jumped on board the backpack fashion trend and it has me reminiscing about what late August used to mean. These “adult” backpacks are’t sized for notebooks, but they are surprisingly convenient and when I saw this Sole Society ‘Ellie’ backpack at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I knew it was the perfect time to try it out.
At first, this trend confused me. When would I use it? Are they really that functional? It took me a few days to decide, but with a few trips being planned and concerts to go to, I figured this would be the perfect companion. Bigger than most over-the-shoulder bags and way more comfortable, this backpack will be great for walking around a new city, shopping or an outdoor concert. I also love the idea of having one less item on my arm at the airport while still being able to fit necessities.
This was my first purchase from the Sole Society brand, and I was impressed. The quality of the bag for the price is definitely worth it and I plan to try their shoes next!

What do you think of the backpack trend?
