Every summer my book list grows longer, but my reading time tends to get shorter. The schedule fills up, we’re enjoying the outdoors, and my books sit in the same spot day after day. However, when I finally picked up The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, all activities suspended until the last page was read.
It wouldn’t surprise me if most of you have already read this – I’m a little late to the party – but if you haven’t, I highly recommend picking up this bestseller now. Being compared to Gillian Flynn novels, Gone Girl and Sharp Objects, this one comes at you full force with a mysterious murder, love affairs and three points of view. My mind was racing throughout the story, trying to piece everything together right alongside Rachel as she’s full of doubt, concern, hate and even self-harm. You just have to read it – no spoilers here!
And get it before October. Emily Blunt will star in the movie coming out in theaters October 7th! Watch the trailer here.
Have you read it? What did you think?

Loved it soooo much! Great recommendation ❤️
Thank you! Can’t wait for the movie!
I actually did read this. I had a more challenging time accepting the book because I kept getting upset with Rachel lol! But I saw the movie trailer and am curious to see how they portray the movie (plus I LOVE Emily Blunt). A really good page turner is The Good Girl by Mary Kubica 😊
The trailer is throwing me for a loop, too! I think there will be some differences. And I agree, Rachel is frustrating sometimes but that’s what kept me reading! Emily Blunt will be perfect – The Good Girl is also on my list!
I’ve heard a lot about this book and also saw many people reading it! I guess I have no more excuses now, after reading your thoughts I’m motivated to read it too! Thank you for sharing 🙂

Yes, of course! It’s worth the read 🙂 let me know how you like it!
Apparently this was the top read book in Australia last year. My daughter who is Chairperson of a writers centre passed it on to me with a high recommendation. I had just just read Gone Girl and watched the movie so I was quite excited to have mother chick thriller in my hands. I love a good thriller, especially when you do not want to put it down. Also the scenery in England along the railways is not always pretty countryside so having spent many hours commuting on British trains, the Girl on the Train was just up my street. I cannot wait for the movie. I enjoy your blog site,it always has some little surprise.
Once I heard it being compared to Gone Girl, I knew I had to read it too. And being able to relate to the scenery had to of made the book even better – wow! I’m anxious about the movie and excited Emily Blunt is playing Rachel. Thanks for stopping by and your kind words! Glad you enjoy my little internet space 🙂
Just ordered on Amazon! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve been searching for a good beach read!
