#fbf – cabo san lucas

Although I’m not ready for the snow to melt… not quite yet… it’s never a bad idea to dream about paradise.   As we’re travelling (a short distance) this weekend, I started thinking about our last trip together – our honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

Believe it or not, this was my first tropical vacation.  Growing up, my family was always headed west, into the mountains to see national parks and wildlife, so I never really understood the appeal of the tropics.  Until we arrived in Cabo.

We stayed at Dreams Los Cabos, a little further from town than we originally wanted, but so worth it.  Even though it is a family friendly resort, we experienced a quiet, relaxing atmosphere everywhere we went.  With two pools (one adults only), six restaurants, 24 hour room service a gym and spa, it really does have it all!  Plus, the view doesn’t hurt.

Everyone told us “you will be so tired after the wedding…” and it turns out, you are.  It’s exciting to jump on the plane while you’re still energized from all the excitement, but once you arrive at the resort and have your first drink, it’s time to relax. And that’s just what we did… and desperately needed.

We like our bartenders.  If you’re ever in Cabo and stay at Dreams, make sure to ask for Johnny and tell him the Des Moines couple sent you.  He’s quite a guy.

Enjoy the resort, but if you do end up in Cabo someday, don’t miss a trip into town.

Our favorite stop was with Rosie at Slim’s Elbow Room.  Don’t blink!  You’ll miss it.  Really, though, there are only four bar stools and “elbow room” for even less.  It is such a cute lace and a spot you’ll never forget.  From there we ventured to Cabo Wabo to listen to live music and drink margarita’s and tried out Giggling Marlin in between shopping at local markets.  Most of the fun was getting from place to place and seeing the town on foot.

Down around the harbor, an arts festival was happening and we grabbed sushi at the Tiki Bar – featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  I can’t recommend this place enough.  We made a special trip into town our last night to eat there – the sushi melts in your mouth.

All in all, we would recommend Cabo any day.  A tropical paradise that has something for everyone.

Happy trip planning 🙂

xoxo.  a
